The fashion industry accounts for 10% of global carbon emissions. The UK buys more clothing than any other country in Europe – an estimated two tonnes every minute. This is the same carbon footprint as driving 162,000 miles in a car.

Even swapping out one piece of new clothing for something pre-loved has a big impact; one new cotton shirt has the same carbon footprint as driving 35 miles in a car.

And if everyone in the UK swapped out one piece of new clothing for something used, it would have the same impact as taking 500,000 cars off the road.
